Crucial announces the company’s first portable SSD product today with the X8 today at Micron Insight in San Francisco, CA.
The company leveraged the scalability of advanced 4-bit per cell flash technology to produce rugged models in 500GB ($129) and 1TB ($189) capacities.
The speeds and feeds show impressive performance with large block size reads up to 1,050 MB/s when used in conjunction with USB 3.2 Gen 2 compliant hardware.
The new X8 Portable SSD ships in exFAT format for maximum compatibility with Windows and macOS, game systems like PlayStation and XBOX and Android devices.
The Crucial X8 Portable SSD features a unibody aluminum core that allows the drive to survive in rough environments. Crucial doesn’t limit the number of data writes to the drive over its 3-year warranty coverage period.
