Breaking news coming from Micron Insight in San Francisco has Micron showing the company’s first 3D XPoint product. The X100 looks like a real product compared to the very early engineering board we spotted several years ago at Flash Memory Summing sporting a CNEX Labs controller.
Not much is known about the X100 at this time. We were able to grab a quick image from a slide deck yesterday that gives us enough details to get excited over. Expect up to 2.5 million IOPS in small block size random performance and “more than” 9 GB/s bandwidth in “read, write & mixed modes”
The X100 will become the first real competitor to Intel’s Optane-branded products to date.

impressive, mixed mode and still that type of performance? well i guess thats the benefit of 3D xpoint. finally micron comes out with some product of their own too because it’s the only way we can have any hope to have 3D xpoint dimm run on AMD system.
