Western Digital released its first purpose build SSD for NAS environments this week. The new SA500 ships in capacities of 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB (500GB to 2TB in M.2 2280 form factor). The series works as primary storage or as a hot-tier cache in pyramid storage systems.
Prices range between $79.99 (500GB M.2) and $599.99 (4TB 2.5″). Western Digital backs the series with a full 5-year warranty. The performance for the series reaches the peak levels of SATA with 560 MB/s read and 530 MB/s write speeds.
